1. The Ontario Works Program
which is a provincial needs tested program that provides financial
assistance for basic needs. The U.A.C. chiefs/councils, administrators and
Indian Affairs are currently working on an alternative to Ontario Works
model of social assistance called the Wiidookdoodwin Program. This program
has a training and employment component as well as the basic financial
assistance.
2. The needs testing and financial administration of the homemaker's
program.
3. The National Child Benefit Supplement (NCB). This program is funded by INAC and reinvests the NCB that is deducted from the client's financial
assistance and is used for food, clothing vouchers, donations to the food
bank, hot breakfast and lunch programs, etc.
